Mary: Aren't we ready yet? Doctor: Almost. We're waiting for Danny and his mother, they should be here any minute. Danny: Are we on time? Doctor: Why sure, Danny. We're just about to begin. You'd like to sit here? Doctor: Just find a seat anywhere Ms. Baker. Come along, Mary, Sue. That's it. Mary: What's the story about, Doctor? Bobby: Yeah, what's it all about? Doctor: It's about, well, all good stories start from the beginning. Once upon a time, there was a happy little city. And around this little city was a gleaming wall of strong white pillars. Just like your teeth. The beautiful white walls sparkled and glistened in the sunlight. Now this wall was guarded by a little watchman named Winky. Winky was not as wide awake as a good little watchman should be. No, Winky was a little careless. Winky: I guard my wall both night and day. [Winky almost falls off the wall ledge] Winky: All is well, all is well! Trouble never comes my way. Winky: All is well, all is well! Winky: Nothing's wrong that I can see. [As Winky yawns, a black monster is evading his view] Winky: Trouble never troubles me. [More monsters begin to appear from the white pillars as Winky continues to sing] Winky: All is well, all is well! All is well you see! [Winky falls asleep] [Black monsters stand behind Winky and start laughing at him] Yes, Winky was careless. Winky had not noticed the bad置ns. Now where there are some bad置ns, there are always more bad置ns. [Bad置ns signals for bad置ns to appear from bushes below the wall] And more. [Bad置ns are preparing to launch from a catapult outside the city] And more! [Large amount of bad置ns appear from the woods outisde the city] Indeed, the woods were full of bad置ns. And the wall was full of bad置ns. [Bad置ns are trying to break into the wall] Yes, full of bad置ns. Especially right under careless, little Winky. [Bad置ns are mining inside the wall directly under Winky and begin singing] Bad置ns: We're such bad置ns. Never, never good! Bad'uns: Don't like nothing. Don't see why we should. Bad置ns: We are trouble, and pain you know, 'cause we're bad, bad bad置ns - everywhere we go! [Bad置ns continue to sing and destroy the wall] We're such bad uns, never, never good. Don't like nothing. Don't see why we should. Bad置n: We cause trouble, and pain you know! Bad'un: 'Cause we're bad bad bad置ns - everywhere we go. [Bad置ns set off a dynamite explosion in the wall] [Winky wakes up from force of explosion and the wall beneath him collapses under him] [He falls into a dark part of the wall where he cannot see anything and gets scared by the Bad'uns] Bad置ns: Boo! Winky: Whoa! [Winky jumps up from the hole and runs across the wall seeing many holes] [Winky runs to the gate of the wall where he calls out forces to fight] Bad置ns: Help! Good'uns! Bad置ns: Good'uns! Bad置ns: Good'uns! [Good'uns begin to force bad'uns out and away from the wall] [Bad'uns flee] The battle was soon over and of course the Good'uns won! But, Winky's beautiful wall was ruined. Poor little Winky was awfully unhappy. Good'uns: Now, Winky. Don't be sad at all! Your wall is saved! Good'uns: There's work to do - we'll start right now to mend your wall! Good'un: We'll make it almost good as new. Winky: You Good'uns fix my wall for me, and I'll guard it! Winky: You'll see how - I'll never, never sleep! You'll see! Winky: Oh, look! They're working on it now! Good'uns: We fight and we work to keep the wall, keep the wall, keep the wall! Good'uns: We fight and we work to keep the wall. Good'uns: Try to keep it strong! [Good'uns continue singing, rebuilding the wall, and refilling cavities in the wall.] Good'un: Winky, we saved your wall here. We fixed it up, all clean and bright Good'un: Your wall is almost good as new! Good'un: And you must guard it day and night! Good'un: We, Good'uns, are your friends you know. Good'un: We're always ready when you call. Good'un: Now here's a whistle you must blow when you find bad'uns in your wall. Winky: Oh, boy! A whistle, gold and bright! [Winky blows whistle] Winky: Hah! When I see bad'uns in my wall, I'll blow it loud with all my might! [Winky blows whistle loudly] Winky: I know you'll help me when I call! Winky: I guard my wall both night and day. Winky: All is well! All is well! Trouble never comes my way. Winky: All is well, all is well. Nothing's wrong that I can see. Winky: Trouble never troubles me! Winky: All is well! [Children begin to clap] Sue: Gee, that was a good story. Mary: I sure do like Winky. Danny: Winky sure learned his lesson, didn't he, Doctor? Bobby: Or didn't he? Doctor: Yes, and after that Winky was wide awake and careful. Sue: Did the bad'uns ever come back? Doctor: Sometimes they did, but they didn't get very far 'cause Winky kept a sharp lookout. Danny: Where is that wall, Dr. Allen? Doctor: That wall is your teeth, Bobby, and the watchman is you, you, and you. Mary: Will the bad'uns hurt my teeth? Doctor: They may, if you're careless as Winky was. Doctor: Remember, the bad'uns are always waiting to attack your wall. [Doctor walks towards the door] Danny: But the good'uns, who are they? [Doctor points at door that reads 'Dentist'] Doctor: Your dentist. Danny: You mean the dentist is the one who keeps our walls safe? Doctor: Yes, Danny, that's exactly right. [Parents begin to walk out the door] Father: Nice story, Doctor. Doctor: Thank you. Mother: Yes, I enjoyed it as much as the children. Doctor: Well, in other words, the safest way to maintain good teeth is by early and regular visits to your dentist. Father: I wish I had heard that story years ago. Woman: Thank you, Doctor. Doctor: You're welcome. Thank you for coming. Doctor: Now, I hope you all remembered to be like Winky The Watchman. Doctor: Always on guard! Mary: You know I'm going to come and see you very often. Doctor: That's fine, Mary, you do that. Mary: Bye, Doctor. Doctor: Goodbye, honey. Sue: I'm gonna see you often too. Doctor: Fine, Susan, fine. Danny: Thanks for the swell story, Doc. Doctor: You're welcome. Goodbye, Debbie. Debbie: Goodbye. Chorus: All is well, all is well... [The End.
