All I have to do is to takemy magnifying glass, put it over my machine justlike this, and here you see old TB himself. [Fanfare music] TB, you old potato tellme the story of your life. [TB:] OK, Doc. Well, to begin with myfamily for generations lived in the lungsof a nice lady. Of course, she didn'tknow she had tuberculosis. She thought it was bronchitis. Then, one day, someof my ancestors managed to get into the lungsof her favorite nephew, little Peter. Watch how neatlythe job was done. Yippie! In he goes. And so I tumbledinto Peter's lung. Oh boy, it was pink and cozy. [Animated trip inside lungs] [Peter's lung homesites, sign] And presto, you shouldsee how my family grew. Come on gang! [TB and gang invade the lung] But Peter was young and healthy. His body cells surroundedus at every angle. And just as we beganto enjoy our new home, his cells completelysurrounded us. [Animation of cell blobssurrounding the TB gang] ["Finally we were completely walled in by a Tubercle. We were Desperate!"] They had us stopped. But after Peter grew up,he neglected his health. He studied too hard. [Peter doing homework] He also played too violently. [Peter slides into home] Our first encouragement. Peter lost his appetite. [Peter at dinner table] Then one day, old auntMatilda came back to town. That kiss gave us thereinforcements we needed. The boom was on for us. [TB laughs] [TB gang cheering] [Peter in sanatorium] Finally, they tookPeter to a sanatorium. The doctor said to rest. [Peter in bed] ["Those body cells got busy again - bottled us all up in strong Tubercles."] In spite of everything wecould do, Peter got well. [Ragtime music] I tried desperatelyto escape and made it. So here I am one ofthe last survivors. Saying can't you helpme to get started again? [Professor Buzzle:] Why Ipledged to wipe out you and all your kind, andhere's how I'll do it. Let me tell you aboutmy little friend, Mary. First, the doctor made askin test, a tuberculin test. In two days, a little redspot showed that germs like you were in her body. And because you were there,an X-ray picture of the lungs was made. [Mary with radiology technician] See, here's the picture. Now there is a tubercle, just like you made in Peter. And there are some slightchanges to the lymph. That is tuberculosisin its earliest stage. And now Mary has a chancethese medicines will cure her. Rest and fresh air, properdiet, and good health habits. [Mary and friends playing] Rest and fresh air. [Mary playing "jacks"] Proper diet. [Mary and friends] And good health habits. [TB:] You have scienceon your side professor. I see my finish. [Thud] [Professor Buzzle:] [Jovial laughter] [Music] [Fight Tuberculosis with Knowledge] [The End] [End film leader]
