Examination of this product showed that it contained insect fragments, sand particles, rodent excreta and rodent hairs, and corn cockle fragments. On August 13, 1941, the United States attorney for the Northern District of Illinois filed an information against Elam Mills, Inc., Chicago, Ill., alleging ship- ment on or about January 23, 1941, from the State of Illinois into the State of Michigan of a quantity of corn meal which was adulterated in that it consisted in whole or in part of a filthy substance. On October 28, 1941, a plea of nolo contendere having been entered on behalf of the defendant, the court imposed a fine of $1 and costs.
