VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS WAUKESHA POST NO. 721 MONROE HEATH BLAKE, COMMANDER HENRY A. YOUMANS, ADJUTANT WAUKESHA, WISCONSIN | July 6th. 1921. From Lonroe Heath Blake. To USTHS Hospital 737 Vaukesha Wis. senator Howard Sutherland, Washington, D. ¢. Subject, Reply to Telegram, July 2nd. I can say nothing as to the situation here prior to April 5th. 1921 At the time of arrival at the hospital I found much talk going the rounds amoung the patients concerning the three doctors mentioned, Dr. Benton Being especially criticised, both for the whole-sale — discharge of patients who were in any troublesome, and for his rough and ugly way of talking.Doctors Visher and Brewster were | disliked for the same reasons. Ihad no personal contact with the latter two. 3 , I do not think that I have ever heard an unfavorable comment . On the remaining members of the staff, Captains Norris, Okiver and Rodgers,. being especially looked up to, Kiked and respected. Captain Norris especially being deserving of higher rank and position. As to Major Kolb, no better man for the place could be found in the whole country, he being kind and considerate to patients that I personaly would have. taken a club to, There is no blame that I can see that can be attached to him, such trouble as has arrisen must be placed on the material he has been given: to work with. Some o¥ the nurses deserve high mention, most do not, it is to bad that a better chief is not placed in charge. The building is under going remodeting causing much noise and dirt, but that can not be helped. The food is good and plenty of it, the only kick I ere is to much chicken. he ones that are doing the kicking and fault finding are the ones that in the sérvice would be generaly found in the guard house. ee ee Lonroe Heath Blake.
