WASHINGTON V.S.PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE Lot August 25, 1921. Dr. Lawrence Kolb, Medical Officer in Charge, - Ue S- Public Health Service Hospital #37, Waukesha, Wisconsin. My dear Doctor Kolb: Replying to your letter of August 7, 1921, please be advised that I have been informed that Doctor Brewster has been placed on _, the inactive list. I note what you say regarding Doctor Salmon's letter to you. He had sent me a copy of it and in my reply to him I asked him if he thought it would be desirable to write the Commander of the American Legion about the work at #57. ‘The delay in replying to your letter was occasioned by the fact that I have been away for @ two weeks’ vacation. In regard to the Sweet bill, you of course know by this time that it has become a law and I am assured by everyone concerned that the Public Health Service will continue to operate the hos- pitals. In regard to Williams and Anderson, I saw Anderson in Washington a few weeks ago and he told me of the good work at #37. During a recent visit to New York I saw Kirby and asked him to stop off to see you during his visit to Waukesha. Everyone appreciates the good work which you are doing at #37. | Doctor Singer, Doctor Thom and myself will probably be in Waukesha some time during the week of September 6 I will advise you more in detail at a later time. I saw the Surgeon General this morning and he stated that he intended going that way some time There are a great many things concerning the hospitalization of World Veterans which I can not at present put in writing but hope to be able to advise you soon.
