This list of serial publications comprises periodicals, journals, an- nuals and the reports of societies, institutions and governmental bodies, including certain titles foreign to medicine and its allied subjects. Entries are in accordance with the A.L.A. Catalog Rules 1908;-of which the following are the most important to those using the list:- 1. A serial not issued by a society or public office is entered under the first word (articles excepted) of the latest form of title. 2. A periodical with a distinctive title, issued by a society or institution is entered under the title. 3. Annuals, bulletins, journals, proceedings, reports, and transactions are entered under the latest form of name of publishing body, and the latest place of publication if there be more than one. 4. Institutions (colleges, hospitals, etc.), are entered under the name of place in which they are located, except as follows: (a) American and British institutions with distinctive names are entered under the first word of name. (b) College and university departmental bulletins, reports, studies, etc., are entered under the name of college or university. Col- leges and universities having geographical designations are en- tered under the name of country, state or city. (c) National or state institutions incorporating the name of country or state in their titles are entered under the country or state. On the opposite page will be found a list of the departmental libra- ries, the buildings in which they are located, and the abbreviations used in this list to represent the departments in which the serials may be found. The star (*) used in connection with the abbreviated form of a de- partmental library, indicates that a periodical is received as a gift or that it is the property of some member of the staff other than the Professor of the department.
