ANNUAL ANNOUNCEMENT. The Medical Faculty of the University of Louisville take great pleasure in presenting the foregoing Catalogue to the alumni and friends of the Institution. It will be se^n that the number of its graduates is one thousand and forty-one, and if to this bo added those who have received from the school the Honorary and Ad Eundem degrees, the total will be one thousand and ninety-three. These numbers exhibit a steadiness of growth and a stability of reputation most gratifying to all who feel an interest in its prosperity. Imposing as they are; however, they do not afford exactly a fair indication of the rate of increase in the number of its students; for while in most America 1 medical colleges the proportion of matriculants to the graduates is only two to one, and in some even less, in this institution the average has been about four to one. The whole number of Students, in the school, has been four thousand two hundred and thirty-two. Much of the remarkable share of public favor which it has enjoyed is justly attributable to its eligible location and its ample endowment by the citizens of Louisville, but much is also due, the Faculty must believe, to its satisfactory organiza- tion' and to their unremitting efforts to introduce into the system of instruction in the school all the valuable im- provements of the day. Its organization, they feel assured, was never more acceptable to the profession than it is at the present time, and its prospects for con- tinued success were never more encouraging. 34 ANNUAL ANNOUNCEMENT.
