The following regulation respecting the Sprinkling of Salt, is published by order of the Board of Health for the information of the public: Boston, February 27, 1880. " Whereas, In the judgement of the Board of Health, the sprinkling of salt, or a mixture of salt with other matter, upon the public streets, ways, and sidewalks of the city, while snow or ice overlies the surface of the same, is a cause of sickness and injurious to the public health ; therefore, Ordered, That no salt, nor mixture of salt with other matter, shall hereafter be sprinkled, scattered, or put upon any public street, way, or sidewalk of the city, while snow or ice over- lies the surface of such street, way, or sidewalk, without the written permission of the Board of Health." In accordance with Chap. 26, Sect. 5, of the General Statutes, whoever vio- lates a regulation made by the Board of Health, shall forfeit a sum not exceeding one hundred dollars. C. E.
