SEVENTEENTH NATIONAL CONFERENCE Charities and Correction, OP' TO USE HELD E-T IB-JkXjTirLdlOK.E, SV5AY 14 to 21, 1890. SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT. The Seventeenth National Conference of Charities and Correction will hold its sessions in the City of Baltimore, Md., commencing Wednesday evening. May 14th, 1890, and continuing until Wednesday evening, May 21st. The object of the Conference is to obtain and diffuse information respecting benevolent, charitable, penal and reformatory work. It has no legislative or executive power, and does not formally express any united opinion upon the subjects discussed. All members of boards of State charities, all trustees and officers of benevolent, charitable, penal and reforma- tory institutions and societies, and all officials engaged in benevolent and reformatory work throughout the United States, are, ex officio, members of the Conference, and are cordially invited. Invitation is also extended to others not connected with any charitable organization or institution, who are actively engaged or interested in charitable or reformatory work, to attend the sessions and take part in the deliberations. The officers of the Conference, its chairmen and members of committees are men and women who are engaged in studying and promoting the best methods of caring for the unfortunate and distressed. The papers and discussions will be prepared and engaged in by practical people, specialists in their profession. The results of actual trial and experience will be related.
