Mr. Henley introduced the following till: A BILL To establish a quarantine station at the port of San Francisco. Whereas the port of San Francisco is peculiarly liable to the in- cursions of infectious and contagious diseases from South American, Pacific islands, and Asiatic ports, and it is desirable so establish a well-appointed quarantine station thereat: There- fore, 1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 2 tines of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 3 That there is hereby appropriated, out of any money in the 4 Treasury not otherwise appropriated, such sum, not exceeding 5 one hundred thousand dollars, as may be necessary to pur 6 chase grounds and erect buildings suitable for quarantine pur- 7 poses at the port of San Francisco. The same shall be, 8 forthwith, expended for the purpose aforesaid, under the di- 9 rection of the Secretary of the Treasury. The said quaran- 10 tine grounds and buildings, when completed, shall be under March 1, 1886.—Eead twice, referred to the Committee on Commerce, and ordered to be printed.
