Officers have been arranged, in the foregoing order, to the com- panies to which they succeeded in the natural course of promotion or appointment. Should a different assignment, however, have since been made by competent authority, it will take precedence of the former. VI. The number prefixed to the name of each of the Second Lieu- tenants, in the above list of appointments, indicates his rank among those of the same date. VII. Acceptance or non-acceptance of appointments, and, in case of acceptance, the birthplace of the officer appointed, his age and residence when appointed, will in every case be promptly reported to the Adju- tant General. VIII. Those recently appointed, who fail to do so within a reasonable time, will be considered as having declined their appointments. obder : L. THOMAS, Adjutant General.
