• The Superintendent of the Nitre and Mining Bureau is authorized to 
pay, from the appropriation for the purchase and manufacture of nitre, 
the actual traveling expenses of officers of the nitre corps on duty, under 
orders, in lieu of any commutation for the time, of rations and forage.
