Lecture Pst. SG yrs. Vol. 19 # 13 July 30, 1990 cover Larson Lecture American Hospital Association Presented at their Annual Meeting Washington. DC July 30, 1990 By C. Everett Koop, MD, ScD Just to keep the user of this archive in tune with where I was in my life, this was the first day of the first vacation I had taken in two years and I noted that I was pleased to be spending that day recalling Roger Larson. Roger had considered both a career in politics or the ministry, but chose health care administration instead. Because of that, we are all the beneficiaries. Larson brought the ideals of service to man and service to God together in health care administration. In fact, his grave marker says just that: "A life devoted to serving God and man". The lecture is an effort to keep alive the vision and maintain the spirit of this remarkably talented man, to whom I referred in my opening remarks as a, "Gentle Giant".
