I wish I had to give to you what you asked for.  The strains I sent Hershey were purported to be C1S and C2S, but this hasn't been born out.  We've never had the magical C2-R that is supposed to be transformable nor have either Tatum nor I been able to isolate such.  Nor do the strains behave on sucrose in the way Boivin describes.  There is a rotten fish somewhere, but I don't how where.  Why don't you try writing him directly; he hasn't answered any of our letters in the past six months.  If you should happen to get the strains we're looking for, I'd be obliged if you would turn your request around and send me a copy.  Why don't you write Orville Wyss -- he has claimed to have had transformations in coli re drug-resistance.
Where is John set on going?  When are you going to Minneapolis?  Drop in here on your way up -- I'm afraid you won't see us at the Bact. meetings.
