STANFORD UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER STANFORD, CALIFORNIA 94305 « (415) 821-1200 STANFORD UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE Department of Genetics JAN 22 1969 yr January 24, 1969 i ’ Professor J. Rotblat 9 Great Russel? Mansions 60, Great Russell Street London, W.C.I. Dear Professor Rotblat: Thank you for your letter of January 20th inviting me to join the meeting of the BW study group in Czechoslovakia in May. I will give the matter my earnest attention and make every effort to find both the time and the travel funding to make my attendance possible. At the moment they are both problematical, but I will give you definite word as soon as this can be developed. This correspondance perhaps givesme an opportunity to press a point I've had in mind for some time. I was dismayed to find that our university libraries, and our supposedly renowned Hoover Institution library on peace and war were quite lacking in copies of the reports of the Pugwash conferences. I would be eager to have these, both for our university archives and those particularly concerned with biological warfare problems for my own information and use to develop a historical perspective on the maturation of these discyssions. Any help that you could give me towards the acquisition of these materials would be very much appreci.ted. As far as I know, they are not available on a commercial basis, but I would of course be happy to pay for them if they are. Sincerely yours, ey Joshua Lederberg Professor of Genetics * JL/jd JAN 2 19555 apd olf? JAN 27 1969 - toe ure Aas aad, LT. J. P. KENNEDY, JR.
