KAROLINSKA INSTITUTET AVDELNINGEN FOR TILLAMPAD MIKROBIOLOGI AUTOMATION IN MICROBIOLOGY HID a, Stockholm, June 4—8, 1973 wD SYMPOSIUM ON RAPID METHODS AND December 28th, 1972 Prof, Joshua Lederberg Dept. of Genetics Stanford University Medical Center, STANFORD, Ca. 94305 U.S.A. Dear Josh, My long association with SIPRI’s CBW-study has forced me to keep up with the literature on rapid methods and automation in microbiology and, in addition, the activities of my department have drifted that way. Against this background it is perhaps logical that I now find myself as chairman of the organizing committee for the sympesium described in the enclosed circular. I have invited Don Glaser to come over. and M. Mitz is on the advisory panel, but we want to be quite certain that the applications in molecular biology and microbial genetics are not lost in the wealth of laboratory approaches to clinical problems. Consequently I would like to invite you to give a paper (30 min, or so) related to labour-saving techniques in microbial genetics, and to serv as Vice-President of the Symposium. We are not yet in a position to estimate the extent to which we will be able to reimburse your travel costs (this largely depends on the economic yield of the associated exhibition) but under all circumstances you would be our guest while in Stockholm. All the best for 1973, Sincerely yours, Chairman org. comm, Adress: Telefon Telegramadress: Tomtebodavigen 17 08/34 05 60/1441, 1442 KAROLINST. ae fA CAlRmA
