Dear Dr. Lederberg:

Before yea 9) t, he gave me instructions to send you the
normal and "cQpper"-Srganisms of the B and Kyo strains. You will
receive four plates of E. coli under separate cover. Two of these,

a "copper" and a normal, are agglutinated by our serum for the B
strain and are lysed by the Tér* bacteriophage. The other two plates
are Kyo normal and "copper"; unfortunately we have no similar way to
authenticate this strain.

These plates were inoculated yesterday and after 2) hours show the
typical differences between the "copper' and normal colonies.
