I have your letter of May 23 and note that you and Esther
plan to pass through San Francisco on August 4-6 this summer on
your way to Melbourne, Australia. I greatly regret that I shall
not be here at that time since I am leaving on June 12 for a
series of lectures in Europe and do not expect to be back in
Berkeley until September 14. However, I shall be in touch with
my office all during the summer, hence please feel free to send
along a letter if anything should come up in which I can be
helpful. I do hope that your discussions will follow a
satisfactory course and that eventually we will have you as a
colleague on this campus.
