Dear Josh,

Many thanks for your prompt reply of February
20th. We are all terribly disappointed, and I especially,
to learn that you don't feel you can make even a short
trip to Melbourne next year. I fully understand your
reasons but should you wish to change your plans the
invitation still stands. Indeed, it could be on the limited ©
basis that you are the guest of the University of Melbourne,
you fly here for one week only and return immediately to
California, The Vice-Chancellor has indicated that the
University would be prepared to meet the cost of one
of the distinguished team which I am trying to assemble
and I could easily nominate you as the one who is to be
the guest of the University. As such your obligations
would extend no further than our campus and would only
involve one lecture, Please think it over.
