Iam very pleased that you and your colleagues
are going to work on the problem of federal aid to
higher education and have given me a chance to help.

The two bills which will get the most consic-
cration by the Committee on Labor and Public Welfare
are the Administration bill, S. 3163 introduced by
Senator Smith, and S. 3187 introduced by Senator
Hill, I ana co-sponsor of Senator Hill's bill.

In addition to the bills themselves, I am
sending you a summary of the Hill bill anda press
release gotten out by Senator Hill's office, The
Committee staff is preparing a comparison of the two
bills, but it is still in rough araft, I thought
you might want to see it anyway, so I have had the
staff make a Thermofax copy of it which I enclose,

Iv you would like to have mimeographed copies of
the final statement I should be happy to get them
for you.
