wn Oct, 26, 1957 Hi Newton; Here it is almost two monthe since we arrived in Melbourne, and we're on the point of leaving. I really haven't had a chence to make a critical study of the plans, and can only hope that Mr. Irwin was eble to read my intentions (afd possibly with some urging from yourself) and comply with them. On the whole they look all right, but I'm still more uneasy about this particular problem than any other one left behind, The plans show none of the wetilating or air-conditioning detail. I hope it(s clear that special treatment is needed for the autoclave- glass-washer srea, and that the ‘sterile room! (the one with double glass sliding door panels enclosing plate storage) and the equi pment— darkrsom suite were to be airconditioned, The ‘drain and sink! at the NE corner of the medium prep room don't look quite right: they should emulate the acid-washing sink we now have, acc'g the sketch I turned in, Perhaps that's all right on the detail, There should be a Dispoaall in the lab, just So. of the Secy' office (If I have the directions right, the sheet reads: Also I had asked for a phone extension in my lab, near the NE door (this is the room to the N and W of the secy off.) This is quite vital if I'm to answer the phone when I'm working in the lab. Would you pass this on to Rabph Hawley, if necessary, to check on these points? I've sent my itinerary to Jin with instructions to publish. We shoula be home within a wonth. Till then, hurriedly, fy . oY Joshua Lederberg
