Dear Joshua and Esther:

Enclosed find outline for #l and the comments of the reviewer on #2. With
regard to the outline of #3 which we completed while I was in Madison, I've
begun to organize my data on the various points. A couple of points come
to mind: (1) It will be a help to have a culture of W1210 if you can get
it from lyophile and send it to ma. This is in regard to the production
of Lp’/5 transductions and a lysogenized W2281 will not suffice, (2) I be-
lieve we should be conservative about statements on UV transducing lambda.
I have considerable data on this and on segregation from transductions made
with UV'd lambda, but I don't believe that this is the place for it.

I did not find an MS from Weigle or a letter on my return, and so I will
write to him and perhaps take a trip out.

On other items--(1) I have a culture of W3139 but have not looked at it.

(2) While here, Latarjet did say that the M.W. of S™ is about 50,000. This
was based on the lower portion of the curves that he had. (3) I received
word this morning that my NIH grant was approved. Becomes active December 1,
() I have not yet located the source of square petri dishes but it is my
recollection now that they may have been plastic.

I will try to get the information that I have for #3 (and #4) to you in a
couple of weeks or thereabouts. I've got to look up some literature on
chromosome mechanics for a seminar in Ted's group and also some material

on PAS for the group that meets at Fitzsimons. :
