Dear Esther,
Thank you very much indeed for this culture which arrived safely.  We are both teaching at the moment and also trying to get some of our own things before we go to Yale.  That is, I should say, if we do in the end go to Yale for, believe it or not, the arrangements are not yet firm.  Correspondence takes a long time and unfortunately, we don't have the correct documents for the visas yet.

I hope your trip to Stanford was successful -- Elinor[?] says you were looking for a house.  We are still determined by Mrs. Kilcollem and our pair of overweight, squabbling, cats and I recommend the first without the second if that be possible.   Bruce and Elmor are collaborating in growing trays of salmonella for their flagella -- he has just handed us a draft of a paper on deflagellation.
