Dear Doctor Huttenlocher:

We certainly enjoyed your recent visit out here. After considera-
tion by the Dean and the Department of Pediatrics, I am empowered to
offer you a position as Assistant Profesaor of Pediatrics and Neurology
at a stipend of $12,500 per year to start on or before July 1963.

We are particularly interested in your participation in the
clinical and teaching aspects of Pediatric Neurology and in your
pursuit of an investigation of neurophysiologic phenomena. As I
mentioned when you were here we would actively pursue the problem of
appropriate laboratory space and make initial funds available to you
for the setting up of a neurophysiologic laboratory. As you requested
you will be administratively responsible to the Department of Pediatrics
but it is asaumed that you will participate in the pertinent conferences
and teaching sessions of the Department of Neurology. We are also aware
of your particular wish to participate in the teaching of general
pediatrics.

We would be very pleased 1f£ you would accept this offer as soon
as possible and we could then make plans for the future so that every~

thing would be ready upon your arrival.

By the way, we received unofficial word that the Clinical Center
for Premature Infants was approved by the NIH Council. We are all very
excited and it opens wide the opportunity for studies in your particular
field of interest.
