Dear Joshs

I have written to Stone stating that I wish to work
in your laboratory. My original application to PHS
was to have been reviewed in March, However, one
of my references failed to set his letter in on
time and mr application has been held for the June
meeting. This is fortunate since now I shall be
able to revise my application before the board
receives it.

The problem which you mentioned dealing with a
search for genetic divergence between different
strains of 4, coli interests me tre most. Jt may
be necessary for me to subnit a new plan of research
to the PHS and since bacterial cenetics is new

to me I feel that I will need your advice if I must
submit the new plan.
