Dear George:

After great imiecision, we ddcided that we were really unable to mike
Conclusive plans for the latter pert of our European trip, and that we
would defer this until we saw you in Stockholm.

As things stani now, then, we are going to drive up from Copenhagen
with Frits Orskevy on Monday, August |, arriving rather late in the evening.
If this see ms, at that time, impractical, we can start out the day before.
We will want to spel at least a day or two with you in Stoekholm after
the Congress, but after that we will have to choose among a mmber of al-
ternatives,

I hope you will be able to persuade Heden to schedule our 'sesmie micro-
biology! conference for not earlier than Tuesday. If the Russian delegation
is dominated by medical bacteriologists, as it seemingly is, I doubt very
much whether anything useful can come of it but we can mke an effort.

If you perceive anything alse of importance to talk about now, don't hesi-
tafe to call m collect. Altermtively, if you can ami care to schedule
your Minneapolis-Chicago connection (en route to Canada) for a stopover
in Madison even for an hour or two, 1 will be glad to meet you at the air.
