AVD. FOR TUMORBIOLOGI KAROLINSKA INSTITUTET STOCKHOLM 60 DEPT. OF TUMOR BIOLOGY O/< . KAROLINSKA INSTITUTET STOCKHOLM 60 May 2, 1958 Prof. Joshua Lederbérg Department of Genetics University of Wisconsin Madison 6, Wisconsin U. S. A. Dear Joshua: Francis Ryan who has originally accepted the chairmanship in the session on Microbial Genetics at the International Congress of Microbiology, has just informed us that he will be unable to come because of other commitments. Would you have anything against taking the chair at this session? The fact that you are moderator of the symposium and a speaker within the session does not matter at all. There will be another chairman, probably Imshenetzki of the Soviet Union. Please let me know whether this is agreable to you. If for any reason it would not be, would you perhaps suggest some-—- body else, preferably from the list of speakers 1 have left with you. However, there is no reason why this would be necessary; having studied the list with care, I do not really think that there would be anybody to lead the section with the same authority as you would. Unless something went wrong, our contribution bart to your travel expenses should have reached the North re West Airlines Office in Madison some time ago. Would me you mind checking with them and let me know if this is wore the case? With many greetings, Yours as ever, George Klein
