Dear Joshua:

Many thanks for your. letter of March 17. I have
spoken to Hedén and he will be able to contribute $ 100
from congress funds without difficulty. I believe that he
has written to you already to that effedt. This is prefectly
all right. As to the letter of Penso, I have not seen it but
Hedén says that they have a great deal of headache because:
of him in various connections. Hedén perfectly agrees with
your point of view and he would like to arrange a serious
committee discussion. Penso's proposal will not be taken
seriously. Hedén hopes that you will suggest the list of the
persons who ought to participate at such a meeting.

I have asked my travel agency about the currency
question and there is no problem whatsoever. We can pay $ 650
to the agency here and you will receive credit for this sum
at any ticket office of any airline in the United States. So
all what you have to do is to state the name and address of
the airline office where you want to purchase your ticket and
a bonus for $ 650 will be sent there through our agency
immediately. You will be perfectly free to travel by any air-
line and in any way you like.

I wae delighted that both you and Esther will be giving
papers in the section on Microbial Genetics. This will be one
of the more important sections and has been recently doubled in
size. I think that we shall have about 18-20 lectures, most of
them of very good quality although perhaps a few weaker ones
will have to be accepted for international reasons. I shall
bring all the abstracts submitted with me. As to your abstract,
it would be very good if it would be possible to print them in
advance. If you have a chance to send them to the congress of-
fice before you leave for Oak Ridge, it would be a definite:
advantage, althbugh I can quite see that you must be overwhelmed
at the moment.
