PROFESSOR GHORG KLEIN BAROLINSKA INSTITUTET STOCKHOLM 60 February 7, 1958 Professor Joshua Lederberg University of Wisconsin Department of Genetics Madison 5, Wisconsin, U.S.A. Dear Joshua: I am including the final plan for the symposia which has been sent out today. We hope to have the abstracts by May 15th, and we will seni them to you as soon as they become available, The title of the focal topic 4 has been changed to "Microbial Genetics". Francis Ryan will act as chairman. The papers so far submitted for consiteration in this section do not seem to represent a very attractive sample. I have therefore asked all the speakers and the panel discussersof our symposium to contribute, if possible, papers to this session. This may be also helpful in decreas- ing the tendency of the discussers to present their own work during the symposium. If you would care to contribute to this session at all; it is unnecessary to say that every- body would be delighted. Dr. Iino*’s abstract has now been placed on the program of topic 4; we were very glad to get it. The Office of the Secretary General would be ¢grate- ful if you would send in your final application form by the end of this month unless you have done so already. You are not expected to pay the congress fee. The office is in correspondence with the Society of American Bacteriologistsa about travel expenses of the American participants and as soon as they have ficured out the exact sum, they will con- tribute (which will be a large part , but not all, of the travel expenses) they will contact you. The rest of your travel expenses will be paid by our institute. With warmest regards, Leorte
