Dear Herman:

1 was deeply grieved to hear of Szilard's situation. Ted Puck
has been trying to accelerate some other awards that he obviously
merits and i have hastened to help.

As to the Academy -- how empty an honor this is can be seen
just from Szilard's exclusions untl! now. Preposterous! { doubt
if you can Influence normal procedure, but 1 would certainly commend
his admission If you think there Is some point to It. If you feel
this should be done, | suggest you cel! Bronk. | myself doubt
whether this would have much significance for him. What about a
Festschrift Instead?
