You should have received Esther's statement abvut Gals and Galg; she

hopes this covers your requirements.

Esther Is deeply preoccupied now with writing her review, and asked me
to put the fullowing questions as urgently as possible. Could you answer
posthaste with the enclosed stationery? (We have just moved ints the medical

center and there Is sume momentary confusion about our exact postal address).
]. According to your ms. with KMKMKKXK Kurahashi, last line page 14, the

galactuse-sensitive strains of Fukasawa and Nikaido ‘seems also to have a

Single block in the Gal-}-P uridyl transferase’. Surely this is a typo-
graphical errur and you mean here the epimerase (as you said in your talk).
Please confirm. (Esther will put ‘epimerase' in her ms. referring to you,

and will change in proof ‘if we have really misunderstood you.)

2. p.18 "The complex polysaccharides. . from wW-3099 did not contain detectable
amounts of galactose’. Can you say speci fic WY ch Strain ak does have detectuble

galactuse. Is it K-12?

We hope Dr. Soffer is working out well in Baltimore, and at the same timenis

bot too much of a nuisance for you. Give him our best (and yours!)
