I have simply too much to tell you for a correspondence.  I must have a quiet day with you either here or in Bethesda or in Pompeii!
Can you get me a transferase-less (96 for instance) which also has requirements for thymine and uridine?  I have developed some ambitious plans for showing the role of RNA in the induction process and using our "galactose induced bacteriostasis" as a device.  I am on the point of purchasing some expensive H3-uridine (1 conc[?] per mmol).  The project can probably be performed on our (that is yours and Ester's[sic]) 3096 directly.
I'll send you within a fortnight a copy of a script for 'Nature' which actually summarizes our findings on 3096.  A detailed script is also under preparation.  I hate to publish but I guess that I'll have to justify my existence - - long hours in the lab - - are not recognized. Concerning the lack of gal.- - I feel very certain, espec. in 3099.  We have not found any glucose, hexoseamine or [ . . . ].  Yet, I have contacted Jean [ . . . ] at M.G.H.  He is an expert and I feel better if he can confirm our findings more or less completely before I challenge the Monod boys.
