Dear Bob:

Thank you for the culture of strain C, Of course I have had
no trouble in finding for myself the appearance of the vesicular
nucleus in this strain, with peripherally disposed chunks of chrom
atin, The cytological appearance of this material seens to accord
more closely with what we have agreed is mo: t likely the normal
condition of the bacterial mcleus,

The strain that we had filed away as "C" is evidently quite
different, Since this culture is <lso resistant te streptomycin,
I must conclude that we have been -nder a misapprehension’to its
identity. Possibly I misunderstood what the o:lture we first re#
ceived was intended to be. This makes very little difference,
however, as we have not had any occasion to use the strain in any
other connection previously.
