thank you very much for your letter of 15th march.
l owe you the apology for so long silence. 1 was yet
awaiting for the decision of the nockefeller Foundation.
Unfortunately 1 have received their levter,informing me
about awarding to me the grant,only few days ago. .

{ am planning my visit in usa for wo months. I under-
stand quite well that iv will be more convinient for you,
if i wili postpone my visit in madison until a week after
the Congress in montreal. 1 quite agree with you and 1 mall
arrange my journey according to your wish.

{ hope to meet you earlier in Stockholm and montreal
and to speak with you about this. .

Regarding the cold-induced resistance | cannot say
anything about the ¥-minus parents. as you, may be, remember
this kind of resistance to sow comcentrations of strepto-
mycin is only semi-stable and is decreasing progressively.
For the present time I have given this problem to one of

iy junior pupils,focusimg ali my work in laboratory on other

topics /induced penicillin resistance,S -R dissociation

and the inheritance of induced variation in progeny of
individual celis during few generavions/. 1 am lookim for-
ward to discuss wivh you this resulvis. in connecvion with you
paper in J.bact. about L-forms 1 have for you an information
very interesting from your point of vew&. am now not able
personally to continue this research,pecouse my assistant,
who was working on thi is now in another town.
