Dear Professor Lederberg;

I hope to be able to visit your country after the Con-
gress of Genetics in Montreal during the autumn of this year.
It would be a great pleasure to meet you then. I should
appreciate very much zf your kind agreement for my visit
in your laboratory.

Be it possible I should suggest a month stay in your
Department during September. I am greatly interested in

our methods of research in the field of recombination

and transduction in bacteria. My own experience in recom-
bination is rather meagre. By the way - I have found that
semi-permanent resistance to low concentration of strepto-
mycin,induced by cooling,is not transfered during recombi-
nation.The high resistant mtants appearing later have

on the other hand transmissible characters.

This my visit is planed with the help of the Rockefeller

Foundation.
I will be very obliged to you for informing me whether
my visit at suggested term may be approved by you.
