Berkshire, England 7 October 196i, Dr Joshua Lederberg Department of Genetics Standford University Standford CALIFORNIA, U.S.A. Dear Dr Lederberg, You once asked me whether I had available a copy of my old M.R.C. report "Bacterial Nutrition" (1936). We met at a sherry party at the CIBA Foundation on the occasion of a Soc. gen. Microbiol. Symposium in 1960, I think it was. Since then I have found a copy of the report amongst the effects of a deceassd collearue of mine. It is in rathor a battered condition, but I have had it pound and I think it will serve your collector's purpose. I have taken the liberty of having bound in with it a copy of the Harvey lecture I gave in 1547, since I think it suggests a little how far things had moved in the ten intver- voning years. I am sending the book separately by surface mail to your Standford address. With kind regards, Yours sincerely, Pre,
