Dear Professor Lederberg:

During my roundtrip through the States in the last
five weeks I had good opportunities to discuss with workers
on DNA. monomolecular films and electron microscopists the
possibilities which in some features of the work of
our group at Frankfurt. We can demonstrate from isolated
pure DNA single filaments of the macromolecules,measure
the length distribution on individual preparations and
our interests go in the direction to show the whole DNA
content of single bacterial nuclei by the combination of the
concemed methods. Unfortunately, my reprints of some
electron micrographs with comments (as a preprint of
some papsers now in press) are exhausted so that you can
receive any fully given impression on the topics off the
investigations only by any special account like Dr.
Bradley's from the Department of Microbiology, University
of Minnesota, Minneapolis, or by an opportunity of a
informal visit of myself. In the time of October lst to -
4th I I would be ver$ Lad combine a visit at Berkeley in
the Virus Laboratory (University of California) with an
informal talk or discussion at Palo Alto. Therefore
