U.S. Army Chemical Corps Research and Development Command U.S. ARMY BIOLOGICAL WARFARE LABORATORIES Fort Detrick, Frederick, Marvland CMLRD-~ BW-2 30 July 1959 Dr. Joshua Lederberg Department of Genetics School of Medicine Stanford University Stanford, California Dear Josh: Dr. Monk accepted employment elsewhere about two years ago but his personal communication to Orr and Gordon on liquid phase sedimentation studies in all probability concerned the work of Dr. Jack Wagman in our Biophysics group. I have discussed your problem with Dr. John Bateman, also of our Biophysics group, and he has suggested that you might be interested in some work being done by Albertsson and Tiselius on partition between different liquids. He also has suggested that the work by Oncley and Lauffer might be of some interest. Dr. Bateman has agreed to provide you with references and some specific information on these technics which I hope will be of value. None of this work is classified. Charlie Phillips was quite pleased to attend the meeting on the space program although it is my understanding that he has heard nothing since the meeting. I am sure Charlie's group will do a good job if they are invited to participate. We would be pleased to have you visit us next time you are in the Washington or Baltimore area. Sincerely yours, RILEY D., SEWRIGHT Scientific Director RDH: dsw ~~ (Mot IOP G Yt —
