Dear Joshua,

we have discussed with Orio both the DAP-mating
substance experiment, and the S-RNA + marked antibiotics expe-
riment that you suggested. They both fit nicely into my own
programmes too, and Orio is willing to take care of them. We
will let you know about developments.

I would be interested in hearing from you:

1) the exact reference to Somerville's "Sources
of radioactive materials".

2) DAP-less and lysine less strainsiwe have none.

Orio also gives me the enclosed information you
requested.

I have asked that Walter be invited to the Basel
Symposium (probable dates 8-10 April). If he could spend a week
here before or after the Symposium we might plan the book. We
will take care of all his local expenses, but I doubt that we
can pay the fare. The Symposium has no money for travelling
expenses. I hope you have no trouble in paying his fare, as you
suggested.
