tried for. its. effect on: Pe. trans#iction, and. it was found that it
strongly. decreased’ transduction. It. -was later found that lysozyme

- agglutinates cells(voth F+-and F-): a ‘concentration of 1/200 of

lysozyme gives almost immediate agglutination on the slide; a trace

of: agglutination. is found. with 1/1600 on slide, reading. within 5'.
The effect on recombination was not tested;-1 should be inbepestea

to know if it increases the rate. Agslutination of cells,when ob-—
served at the microscope, is very tough : cells ure closely packed.

- Smaller dilutions are active. on more prolonged incubation, especiall;

if some ‘shaking (rolling) is used.
