'It ds requested that in lieu of elective work in the first
quorter of the Third Year, beginning March 1946, I be permitted
to accept a fellowship enabling me to do resesrch on the genetics
and nutrition of bacteria (Escherichia coli) with Prof. E.L. Tatum
at Yale University. My application for a fellowship with the
Childs Kemorial Fund is under consideration by the Board of
Hanagers at the present time. The fellowship is to extend until
the resumption of the Third Year work in Sept. 1946. Dr. RG.
Meader, Asst. Direotor of the Childs Fund, is prepared to explain
the status of this application, !
