Dear Joshua--
I'm afraid I won't be present to welcome you in person when you arrive in Berkeley, but I hope everything has been satisfactorily arranged.  You're welcome to my office (room 3531), and Martha Tsuchida, who is our research assistant, will help you to find any equipment or supplies that you need.  I've written asking her to set aside some lab space for you.
I should reach Berkeley by August 5, I think, but am driving back and hence by movements are subject to a certain amount of uncertainty.
