Dear Dr. Lederberg,
I owe you a note of thanks for recommending me to Dr. Lein and starting a correspondence that has led me to a new position.  You may have heard that I am to start work at Bristol Laboratories on June 15th. I liked the sound of the work on Dr. Haas project much better than any other offer that came my way, though I was hesitant about entering industry.  I still don't know how I'll like it, but don't think I can tell except by actually trying it for at least a year - so here goes!  I flew up (at their expense) and visited the lab for one day in April. It was a cold, rainy day and I didn't see much of Syracuse.
I have enjoyed my stay in Illinois and made a lot of friends that I hate to leave. But that has been true of every place I've been and I've never regretted a move.
