JOURNAL OF BACTERIOLOGY OFFICIAL ORGAN OF THE SOCIETY OF AMERICAN BACTERIOLOGISTS Editor-in-Chief Editorial Office JAMES M. SHERMAN Cornell University Press Cornell University February 5, 1951 Ithaca, New York Dr. Joshua Lederberg Department of Genetics The University of Wisconsin Madison 6, Wisconsin Dear Doctor Lederberg: Your paper has been accepted and will be scheduled for the May issue of the Journal. The May issue will be volume 61, but of course it is impossible to know about the exact pages until after vage proof has been received. Page proof for the May issue will probably not be sent by the publishers until the latter part of April. Although I will edit the Journal through volume 61, ending with the June issue, Dr. Porter, who takes over as editor at the beginning of volume 62,will have to begin acting on new manuscripts around April 1. Whether the publishers will send page proof to me or to Dr. Porter after the shift has been made in the editorial office, I do not know. It may ve that Dr. Porter will wish to take everything under his wing when he has to get busy in earnest around the first of April. Sincerely —n Bra Sz c Jd. ke Sherman JS :rh
