Dear Dr. Rohweder:
I have your letter of the 8th in which you "express your appreciation for [my] cooperation in connection with publicity for the Federation meeting in Detroit."
Although I am in full sympathy with the aims of your organization in combating the insidious attacks of the so-called "anti-vivisectionists", I could not have given any cooperation at the Detroit meetings a) because I did not attend them, and b) because my work at present does not involve experiments on animals. I am writing this to inform you then that there must have been some error, so that there will be an opportunity for its correction, be it that the letter should have been addressed elsewhere, or that you had some other reason for corresponding with me.
