Dear Josh:

Iam tentatively planning to spend this summer in Madison. My
plans are to work in Burris' laboratory for part of the time with the
hope that I could also spend some time in your set-up,possibly working
ona small problem. I am writing to inquire whether I could have such
an arrangement with you. My background in genetics is quite weak and
I thought that this would be a good opportunity to do something about it.
As you will guess I am particularly interested in some of the biochemical
aspects possibly transduction or phage work. I wonder if I could make
a suitable arrangement with you along these lines. I will try to get in
touch with you at the Federation Meetings if you are planning to attend.
