Thank you for the memorandum on the Shelter Island Conference.
There is very little to add to the topics suggested, To the extent that it is not already covered by a) and b), it might be worthwhile to put down "Intergenic effects on mutability". I have some observations on lysogenicity in E. coli which might be subsumed under "plasmagenes".
Do you think it might be possible to persuade Emerson to have the material on hand for a discussion of his earlier work on the serological induction of mutations in Neurospora? I know that many of us are somewhat confused because there has been no elaboration, confirmation, or refutation of this work since the preliminary report in the PNAS in 1944, five years ago.
For further topics, if any are needed now, Luria (and Watson) might be willing to talk on their work on indirect affects of radiation on phage. Unfortunately, there is no one from the Texas group, but this may not be a fatal barrier to a discussion of the mutagenicity of irradiated broth.
