Thanks for calling my attention to the Vi
problem, of which I was ignorant. I hope your
student will look into it. If he does not, one of
us will have to. We have our hands full at the
moment. I don't have any ideas about this that
you haven't had.

There is another puzzling phenomenon among
the staphylococci. If I remember correctly from
Rountree's paper, it is common experience that a
phage isolated from a lysogenic culture, then
cultivated on a sensitive culture, will now plate
with high eop on the lysogenic culture. The problem
here is similar. Qet. ken inlrrstics .
