Dear Joshua:

I'm afraid I'm a little late, having just got back
from Europe, but I want to tell you how delighted I am to
learn that you received the Lilly award.

I'm one of the group who have been plugging you for
this for some years, and have considered it scandalous that
you've been by-passed in order to let others squeeze in before
they got too old. I'm sorry I couldn't have been there to hear
your talk.

The Genetics Congress wasn't nearly biochemical or
microbiological enough for my taste, but I found the Congress
of Microbiology a good deal more interesting.

I'li be getting to Madison sometime in January to
talk before David Green's group, and I look forward to seeing
you and Esther then, Meanwhile, my best regards.
