Enclosed you will find the requested reprint of our recent article which was published in
FEMS Microbiology Letters.

I want to thank you very much for sending me reprints of two of your articles which I
was reading with great interest. Since I am interested in the historics of the original E. coli K-
O 12 strain, I am wondering whether you know what happened to the original strain between
1922 when it was first isolated at Stanford University and the 1940th when you used this strain

in your laboratory?
